Boarded up

I’m not sure if this is true or not but while in Ireland I was told several times that there is a law which prevents the demolition of older buildings. Tongue in cheek I’m sure I was told it was because they didn’t want to upset folks coming to look for great great grandads, cousins nephews old house.

    • Short answer yes if possible. For rural buildings / homes if there happens to be a local nearby that I can pester then I’ll ask questions. Sometimes I’ll take my photographs to local tourist boards, pubs, libraries and archives, etc to get info (find a clutch of local seniors and get them engaged in conversation). For more formal buildings or sites I’ll read before hand so I have a sense of history and the story contained.
