Sigmund in line
Wanting to expand my range a bit, I took my camera to the local Prawn Festival to begin my Flaneur apprenticeship. I came across the term while reading a book about street photography. I thought that it was an excellent definition (although a bit too flamboyant for my personality)to help me to stay focused, an urban equivalent of going for a hike in the woods.
The photographer is an armed version of the solitary walker
reconnoitering, stalking, cruising the urban inferno, the
voyeuristic stroller who discovers the city as a landscape of
voluptuous extremes. Adept of the joys of watching, connoisseur
of empathy, the flâneur finds the world ‘picturesque.’ (S.Sontag)
